The Anchorage Market is ending so soon! If you haven’t made it to the market this summer, celebrate it’s final weekend by grabbing some local goodies, fresh produce, souvenirs and enjoy all the yummy food vendors!

 

Weekly Evening Hike

Recurring every Monday & Thursday the month of September

From 6:30-8 pm enjoy the autumn evenings with the members of Alaska Outdoors, only for the price of a $1 donation. They will take you on different trails each time at this social event and will let you feel like a true local! On Mondays, hikes are easier with trails between 3.5 to 4.5 miles and are suitable for beginners and families.Thursday hikes are more moderate. There is no need to register in advance, as long as you are ready to hike at 6:35 pm sharp!

 

What Why How We Eat

This is an exhibition that takes a look at the vital and cultural role that food plays to Alaskans and why we eat what we eat! A look into local home kitchens, community, tradition, innovation and culture and how it has developed and where it is headed for the future in the Arctic.

 

Mountain Bike Festival

Date: September 6-8

Location: Alyeska Resort

Four full days of competition, music, demos, workshops and events! Celebrate the end of summer and all of the joy mountain biking brings to you while riding along the Alyeska Bike Park and the Pond Crossing and Alyeska Downhill State Champion Race!

 

Anchorage Welcoming Week Community Celebration

Date: September 14

Location: Anchorage Museum

A day full of community and supporting local artists and performers. Performances will be held on the museum lawn, explore the museum collections, free of admission, a Welcoming Art Walk, to tour the downtown public arts, and much more! Celebrating Anchorage on the last days of summer.

 

Oktoberfest Run to End Homelessness

Date: September 28

Time: 9 am

Location: Tony Knowles Coastal Trail

A race to end homelessness – you can run either a 5k or 10k on the Coastal Trail all while benefiting a great cause. All profits from this race will be donated to Brother Francis Shelter and Bean’s Cafe. You are able to register day of but registering online beforehand is recommended. Also, they will be taking food and clothes donations!
