StoryTRACKS

Location: Peratrovich Park

Music for Little Ones this summer will include StoryTRACKS that allow families the opportunity to explore reading through fun, interactive placemaking. These stories and interactions encourage children’s verbal development: Talk, Respond, Ask questions, Connect, Keep at it, Sing and tell stories.

 

Public Lands Walking Tour

Recurring daily

Time: 3:15 pm

Location: Alaska Public Lands Information Center

A free public lands walking tour with a National Park Service ranger that takes your through downtown Anchorage where they will talk about the special culture in Alaska, the unique animals and a history of Alaskan soil. It is about 45 minutes long and completely outside and leave from the steps of the Alaska Public Lands Information Center. Be a tourist in your own city!

 

Yoga Blend Thursday

Dates: July 1 -August 23

Recurring weekly on Thursday and Friday

Times: Thursday 12:10-12:50 pm, Friday 6-7:30 am

Location: 5th & B Parking Garage Rooftop

Yoga on the rooftop all summer long for free or a $5 donation! Bring your own mat and come practice restorative flow and some longer yin yoga holds – something new each time! May cancel in wet weather.

 

Byron Glacier Hike

Date: June 21-August 11

Recurring weekly on Sunday, Friday, Saturday

Times: 2-4 pm

Location: Byron Glacier Trailhead

With staff from the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center, enjoy a short hike to Byron Glacer in Chugach National Forest. Meet at the Boggs Visitor Center by 1:45 pm or Byron Glacier trailhead at 2 pm. It is a 0.8 mile long trail with a 100 foot elevation.

 

Craft Show at the O’Malley Center

Dates: July 6-September 7

Times: 10 am-6 pm

Location: The O’Malley Sports Center

Every first Saturday of the month find your favorite local artisans, vendors and food at this summer craft show. 

 

Bear Paw Festival

Dates: July 10-14

Location: Eagle River

Events include the Teddy Bear Picnic, classic car show, a parade, the Slippery Salmon Olympics and the I Did a Duck Race.

 

Williwaw Campground Campfire

Date: July 21-August 10

Recurring weekly Friday, Saturday

Location: Williwaw Campground

Gather ‘round the campfire and learn about salmon, bears and cultural heritage from a Forest Service Interpreter from the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center in Church National Forest. 

 

Alaska Aviation Festival

Date: July 28

Time: 10 am-4 pm

Location: Alaska Aviation Museum

A celebration of flight in the Last Frontier on the shores of Lake Hood. Fun for all ages, this festival is an Anchorage tradition for over 30 years featuring vintage aircraft fly-bys, live music and family activities.
