Can waiting until late spring help both maximize your sale price and give you the potential for a quicker sale? It is known that spring is one of the busiest times in real estate since the snow is gone and tackling a journey like moving and selling homes is a better feeling in the warmer months. While summer is all of the sudden getting closer and closer, we still are entering the late spring months and it may be some of the best few weeks for real estate.

According to Zillow, U.S. homes that are listed for sale in early May may sell for $1,600 more than the average listing throughout the year. It is interesting to note that homes listed for sale in the first half of May are selling for more money and faster (about 6 days faster to be exact) – it may be due to the fact that not a lot of homes are listed but buyers are hungry this time of year, and since we are a couple of months in to the spring, they feel as though time is running low on the most opportune time to buy.

Another interesting data piece that Zillow had found was that homes that were listed on a Saturday get a much larger number of viewers than say if you were to list on a Tuesday. Saturdays and Fridays seem to end up with about 20% more views in their first week of listing than any other day of the week. 

We thought this was interesting data to share as we approach the new month of May and look forward into June.
