It’s official – we are in the dreaded winter months! Although the weather outside may be frightful, that shouldn’t stop us Alaskans from having fun! Here are some indoor activity ideas around Anchorage.
Movie Theater – there are lots of new movies coming out this winter and why not take the time with family to go to the movie theaters to enjoy! Plus, what is better than movie theater popcorn? The Valley Cinema has stadium style seating and an arcade to have fun in after the movie is over too!
Museums - there are so many different museums in our area that you and the family can enjoy! From learning about Alaskan heritage and culture, to neat science exhibits, check out all museum options in and near Anchorage to spend a snowy day at! Learning and having fun? Win win for the whole family! Check out the Imaginarium Discovery Center, Wasilla Museum, Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center and so many more!
Kid Activity Centers- For those days when the kids need to get out some energy, there are some places to take them to! There is Putter’s Wild that has indoor blacklight mini golf and arcade. In Wasilla, there is the Extreme Fun Center that has everything from go-karts, laser tag, bowling, arcades, bumper cars and rock climbing. Now if that doesn’t tire everyone out, I’m not sure what will!
Library – have you ever been to your local library? Take time on a lazy day this winter to go check it out! This might spark an interest for you and the family, to start reading more this new year. Also, there usually are events for your kids to join in on, like story time, or even help with homework!
Alaska Railroad – enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of a warm train ride! The Alaska Railroad Aurora Winter Anchorage to Fairbanks (one way), provides a scenic ride with big windows and food. You might even see wildlife up close! This could turn into a full weekend trip that will provide lasting memories with family or friends.
